April has gone out with a bang. Or three. Bird feeder hangy-things. |
The wreckage of two caged-cylinder feeders... cage lid... |
...tube-feeder lid...sniff, sniff... |
...scattered... |
...hither and yon (suet feeder top left, hangy-thing top right, cage and cyclnder-feeder at bottom)... |
(possible evidence) |
...chaos beyond comprehension! |
Whodunit? |
Who indeed? |
Savaged double-wide suet feeder. I hope it gets indigestion! |
The slaughter was followed by a day of rising early to hang the feeders for morning birdies, and then an experiment: one feeder out all night, hung from a sturdy branch on one of the above shepherd's crook hangy-things. No branches, lateral or inferior to grant access.
Oh, well. |
But this is only the beginning. Somewhere, evil mammals lurk, dreaming of the coming night's raid. Will it be their last?
Raccoon(s)? Bear? (Snoofles! Not you!). Probably raccoon, but if so, I am impressed by their strength to bend feeder hanger metal, and also hangy-things. No wonder they wear masks. Cowards. Take heed!
