Dominic, Platypus, and Bear Take a Tumble!

Boo hoo! But I emerge sans scratch, down, but not out.
2 1/2 lazy revolutions. Contents of the car mostly unhurt.
Not so for the rooftop items.
Woe! Woe! Bent and broken bicycle!
Bumpers optional
Note brave tree that stopped the revolution.
In the movies, windshields are kicked aside. I turned the ignition 1/2 turn, rolled down the driver's window, and made a graceful exit.
I've begun to unload before towing can inflict further insult to treasured household essentials. And some other stuff, too.
Laws of physics are considered...
...angles studied...
The Forester has returned to the forest.
View from road. Note pile of worldly goods at left. Roof rack, box, and bicycle are behind bush at right.

Whoops-a-daisy!
No, nay, never..no, nay, never no more will I play the wild rover...

...No, never, no more.

Whoops! 2 1/2 rolls, but I'm OK!

Gene, of the Green Springs Volunteer Fire Brigade administers CPR
The buggy at a standstill.
Platypus and Bear are shocked, but otherwise unhurt. As am I. More thrilling pix to come!

KWR encore! Many pictures, most of them blurry!

Free-range eagles.
Eagle having a mid-morning snack
A different eagle carrying off a different snack
Some kinda hawk watching yet another eagle
Goosey-woosey
Golden eagle
Three young some kinda eagles
For the first time, this picture includes two eagles you've seen before
But these two golden eagles are new to you
This crummy picture is a river otter looking at me. It scampered across the road.
Another golden eagle, another snack
Sandhill cranes, buncha redwing blackbirds winging on by....
Scenery at KWR
Ducks, shovelers, I think
Bald eagle and either young bald or golden
Bufflehead flees the Subaru
Ducks!
More ducks!
Tundra swans--hopefully clicking will show yellow at base of bill.
Maybe a trumpeter swan--no yellow at base of bill
Stylish bufflehead.
Geese!
Stylish ruddy duck
Shovelers gettin' lunch
Only one of MANY harriers
Sandhill cranes. Note flock of snow geese at back! Thrills!

Platypus and Bear: From New York to Oregon!

The End of the Western Trek: Klamath Wildlife Refuge

From Lakeview, Oregon, into Northern California
A visit the Klamath Wildlife Refuge's Tule Lake Refuge.
(If you click on an image, you will get a larger view.)

View North toward Lakeview--seasonal wetland/lake
My favorite road-cut lava flow! Note the darker lava within lighter casing, each discrete from its neighbour.
Not a gull or vulture
But almost as common... five bald eagles and two golden eagles in 2 mile stretch of Tule Lake Refuge
Geese agitated into flight by KWR staff in fan boat (Everglades-style) collecting dead fowl--avian cholera. A sad reason to see a beautiful flight.
"Honk", "honk", and "honk" again.
No, this is not blurred, there are so many wheeling snow geese in this formation, that it just looks that way.

Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band at Terminal 5, 12 February, 2011

You're living the dream! Now see the MUSICAL!
Look who's playing Radio City on Valentine's Day!! (Who the hell is he?)

Another fine concert. Special Valentine's Day version of Kathleen complete with horn section and "disco ball" lighting! Encore with now-drunk Scottish opening act Scott Hutchinso, of Frightened Rabbit!
